Committee Chairperson Duties
All committees should have at least one chairperson. The Board contact for each committee shall be different from the committee chair. As a committee chair you should plan on attending the general meetings to report your committee’s plans, etc. If you cannot attend, please either send a representative from your committee to present a report, OR email your report to the FSP Vice President to read at the meeting for you.
FSP Committees
Book Fair – Scholastic Book Fundraiser
Chairperson duties: overall coordinator of all aspects of the book fair.
Building Chairperson
Grand Prairie, Chelsea, and Hickory Creek each have a chairperson that serves as a liaison between the FSP and the administration. Chair people contact the administration of each building on a semi-regular basis to communicate FSP information, get information or to help problem solve. This person will cooperate with the principals/vice principals and arrange 2 holiday assemblies that are paid for by the FSP at Grand Prairie and Chelsea. In addition, this person also coordinates the food donations for the teacher’s dinner during parent-teacher conferences in the fall and forgotten lunch supplies for each school as needed. Each building chairperson will coordinate and oversee all aspects of Educator Appreciation Week. Also, this chairperson is the information specialist of that building.
Exploration Night
Coordinates all aspects of this fun family education night at Chelsea– varies each year.
Hot Lunch
Plans menus with APPROVED vendors (i.e. Tony’s Villa Rosa, Frankfort Square/Parmesan’s/Mindy’s/Aurelio’s/…), organize and submit menus to school nurses for approval. Create order forms and coordinate with district bookkeeper.
Lunchroom Volunteers
Grand Prairie building chair coordinates the lunchroom volunteers at Grand Prairie. This is separate from the Hot Lunch volunteers.
Mail
All board members are responsible for picking up mail and delivering to appropriate members throughout the year.
Spelling Bee
Coordinate Spelling Bee program in accordance with the National Scripps Spelling Bee program.
Website Coordinator
Coordinates website updates with web designer
Around the World
Coordinate all aspects of the Around the World event.
Chicago Wolves Game
Coordinate an all district night with the Wolves.
Joliet Slammers Night
Coordinate an all district night with the Slammers.
Dine and Donate
Coordinate Dine and Donate events with the vendor and create the flyer. Coordinate staff orders and distribution on the Dine and Donate days.
Spirit Wear Sales
Work with vendor to design and price spirit wear for the district. Attend curriculum nights and run the Spirit wear table.
SCRIPP Gift Card Sales
Place and distribute SCRIPP gift card orders for the District.
Earth Day Clothing Drive
The Earth Day Chair organizes a fund drive through Saver's. This program allows our community to donate items on a designated day in April. Savers will put these donations to good use by recycling them and reimbursing FSP based on weight of donations.
Teacher Treat Days
Organize and provide treats for the teachers for one day during the fall. Set up and take down.
School Supply Sales
Manage the districtwide school supply ordering program and serve as point of contact for any customer inquiries. Responsible for vendor selection, brand specific kit composition, logistics, and advertisement of the program.
